Review of The Roommate (2011) by Nathan C — 16 Dec 2011
Yet another ripoff of "Fatal Attraction".
There's no point for me to summarize the plot. Refer to the above paragraph. I hear some people also call it "Single White Female" in college. Whatever the case, you know this is going to be bad.
Why, oh why, does Hollywood continue with these shoddy psychotic woman movies? I thought Screen Gems would've learned two years ago when "Obsessed" ended up failing. Enough about that, there's terrible acting by pretty faces, absolutely no psychological suspense or terror, bad pacing, the same old story, and nothing much to set it apart from other movies that were much, much, much better than this drivel. If so, there's nothing - I mean, nothing - that could possibly redeem this movie from infamy. Well, maybe, except the visuals and locations and stuff like that... but appearance does not make a movie without originality or greatness good*.
*Only exception: "Avatar", but that's because it's directed by James Cameron! And not some hack who has seemingly never made a movie before.
Well, this is just one of the worst movies I have ever laid my eyes upon this year. Yeah, it makes "Pirates 4" look good. Let this be a lesson to ye executives of Hollywood: that performing the act of copypasta and modernizing it kills a movie the instant it's made.
