Review of The Room (2003) by Trevor M — 28 Aug 2015
A film that transcends the "so bad, it's good" genre. This is a film that writer/director/producer/star, Tommy Wisseau, had every intention of being a thought-provoking and tragic tale of relationships and betrayal. He poured his heart and soul into this film yet every decision he made was the exact opposite of what any competent director would've made. That's what separates this film from all the other "so bad, it's good" films.
I've probably seen The Room more times than any of my actual favorite, legitimately amazing, films. It's so intriguingly horrible that you just get sucked in from start to finish. It really is the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies.
I give The Room 5/5 stars based solely on the amount of enjoyment and entertainment it's awfulness provides. It's a film that must be seen to truly understand.
