Review of The Room (2003) by Joaquin Y — 06 Jul 2017
The Room settled for a low-cost drama which has a very poor plot, cinematography, screenwriting, and direction. The repetitive (and much more emphasized in terms of details) sequences of the room scenes with crappy RnB music and irrelevant scenes portraying the cityscape of San Francisco really messed up the flow of the movie.
The acting performance is Tommy Wiseau was really a total hang-off from how the character of Johnny was supposed to be portrayed. The emotional expression from most of the cast really doesn't reflect to what their roles are feeling at certain scenes.
There were times that what's happening at certain instances was to build-up an intense emotion and drama but instead the cringe-worthy, child-like expression suddenly happened. The screenwriting felt like an amateur idea in which the progression of the story proved its inconsistency in terms of unnecessary conversations between characters which has nothing to do with the previous sequence.
This movie could've been so good to make it as a suspense-drama but the lack of imagination, creativity, and idea brought the whole film down to its failure to make the audiences experience a compelling and emotionally-driven story.
