A rookie is a truly odd film. Its one of those movies filled with excellent characters, convincing performances, a powerful narrative, and emotionally wrenching dramatic moments. However, the pacing of the film is panfully slow and the two hours looked look a lot longer.
Thats why this film just gets a 60. Its a great looking movie but doesn't know how to handle its contents in the right manner. It looked extended and long. Plus, this movie didn't give the feeling of inspiration.
A movie like this should at least get a 90% but this movie is different. Its a movie worth watching definitely because it has lump-in-the-throat moments. Dennis Quid is excellent here. This movie just could have been better.
