Review of The Romantics (2010) by Manny C — 02 Feb 2011
This here is a little indie drama that gives indie dramas a bad name. The Romantics, from director Galt Niederhoffer, adapted from her own novel, wants to be Rachel Getting Married. Not happening. Anna Paquin is a bride to be for Josh Duhamel, who used to date Katie Holmes, who is still harboring intense feelings for him, and is one of the maids of honor.
It's that conflict that threatens to tear apart the group of friends known as The Romantics (which include Malin Akerman and Glee's Dianna Agron), who fancy classic poetry. Although you wouldn't know it from how trite they all sound.
The Romantics is a bona fide snooze, with an incredibly miscast Katie Holmes. The less said the better.
