I still don't know what to make of this film. Hokey Scifi I can enjoy, but this film places plot well down the line of priorities in favor of characters and songs. The two or three great songs make up for the many more mediocre or bad ones, but apart from Tim Curry's bizarrely fascinating Dr.

Frank N. Furter none of the characters are particularly interesting. Even he doesn't make any sense, and not really in a funny way. The costumes and sets have all the cheap tackiness of a bad '80s music video.

And yet somehow, despite seemingly having nothing to it, when the film works it really works.
