Other than romance flicks, another genre that I truly dislike is musicals, especially the classic Disney animations. Personally, they take too long to progress on the plot and hate the fact of the characters have to sing basing it off of their emotion. Once in a while, there will be some catchy tunes and music that I'll actually enjoy watching, but overall, I hate musicals. When it comes to this musical, this is that rare type of musical that I enjoyed.

I can't say nothing about the story as it's a parody to those B-movie horror films and making fun of it. It's corny, weird, and simply silly, but that's what the musical was aiming for and it worked out pretty well. Although it does have themes of incest, transvestites, and homosexuality, the film barely displays any sexual scenes, which worked out for me. The characters inside the mansion do act gay, but that's about it when it comes to anything sexual. There are no exploitations and display no sense of sexual scenes.

I was quite surprised with the cast and never realized that they can sing. Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meatloaf were among the cast whom I was surprised the most as I never expected them to be in this musical. Every cast had a good singing voice and were pretty good with their roles. My personal favorite is Frank-N-Furter. Personally, Tim Curry, at the time, looks like Freddy Mercury during his younger years in Queen. Tim Curry has this great, strong singing voice and his character was just funny and crazy. Without a doubt, if you like this film, then Furter will be your favorite character. Glee can reenact his character and destroy it by casting someone else as Furter, but Curry's portrayal was unique and irreplaceable.

Hands down, I really liked the music. These songs had this rock n' roll tune that really worked well and was catchy. Personal favorites have to be "Time Warp" and "Sweet Transvestite." Other songs, on the other hand, were good and catchy.

This is not your ordinary, happy go jolly musical as this is a musical that is 100% weird and silly. I liked this musical more than I have expected, liking the cast, great characters and really enjoyed listening to the music.
