I always liked the Rocketeer. I had a chance to meet Dave Stevens the creator of the Rocketeer. A really nice guy and one hell of an artist. Dave passed away this year (2008) and left the legacy of this great character.

The Rocketeer is set in 1930's Hollywood and perfectly casts Bill Campbell as Cliff Secord, aside from Christopher Reeve's Superman this is one of my favorite castings of all time, perfect!! A young Jennifer Conelly sweetly plays Jenny.

In the comics Jenny is actually modeled after old school pin up girl Betty Page. So althogh the character changes, Conelly plays Jenny as sweet and likeable. I really liked Alan Arkins portrayal of Peevy however there are a few scenes where I'll admit to his acting is just borderline cheesy.

Timothy Dalton and Paul Sorvino round out the main body of the cast as the two bad guys. Basically I wont tell the story or reveal anything about plot. Let me instead mention what is good. I like that the Rocketeer isnt overly violent, sexual or offensive in anyway.

Its an enjoyable innocent film and I think if you get that, you'll like it. Its a disappearing genre of film I think to have a decent adventure film and still get only a PG rating. I have been a fan of this film since it came out.

Its not perfect but it is a lot of fun.
