Review of The Rock (1996) by Amelita A — 20 Apr 2010
In the mid 90's before Michael Bay's movies became a parody of themselves there was The Rock. Nicolas Cage is a biochemical specialist sent to Alcatraz to prevent a disgruntled General from launching a rather nasty chemical warfare at San Fransisco.
Sean Connery is a....British (a term I use very lightly) Operative who's knowledge of Alcatraz will help them break in. This is another movie that makes me question whether Michael Biehn's characters can live in any of the movies that he stars in.
Nicolas Cage for most of the movies that I have seen him in I have enjoyed his performances. Sean Connery is pretty good to. He can go from sympathetic to just plain sinister pretty quickly. For this movie being 2 hours long, it is paced pretty well.
Not being to short, but at the same time not over staying it's welcome.
