If there's one movie out there that michael bay should be remembered for...in a positive way...it's THE ROCK. Its shocking to see how straight Nicholas Cage was in this movie, before he became all crazy-Ed Harris is really solid in this role, and there are just no words epic enough to describe Sean Connery in this movie. He's just-insanely good.

This was Michael Bay's 2nd major feature, and you can already start seeing the Bay-isms in this movie that will pop up in every single one of his future films. while it makes his future works self aware and forced, it works in this because its fresh and before Michael bay became the action trick pony.
