Review of The Rock (1996) by Jared C — 05 Aug 2012
Another chip off the old block from directing for Michael Bay and producing from Jerry Bruckheimer. The trailer didn't look liked its awesome meter got there, until they showed all these explosions, combat scenes and jumping off tall buildings, then I realized I wanted to see this.
Nicholas Cage is good as Goodspeed the chemical scientist ( its like he returned funnier and more laid back from his trip in Con Air) Ed Harris is convincing as the villain in the film trying to give a good name for all the dead soldiers he fought with out in the war-field, saying they should have been commemorated and decorated.
And Sean Connery who I haven't seen for a while its good to see him in his acting years and see what he does with this ex-con Mason who surprisingly knows his stuff and just keeps pushing everybody's buttons.
The action is big, explosions, shoot outs, car chases and smashing through windows. Hans Zimmer does a fantastic score to this film, Its all in a days work for Bay and Bruckheimer. A fine piece of action, enjoy.
