Review of The Rock (1996) by Will J — 08 Oct 2012
Despite being a Michael Bay film, The Rock in my opinion is the very essence of an action movie. From start to finish, the fast pace of the plot is maintained, making it incredibly easy to remain absorbed in the action.
While the plot itself seems quite incredulous, the strong performances from Cage, Harris and Connery are totally convincing, thus making the film more engrossing. The Rock is a well written, directed and edited film - rapid cuts hold the film together in some scenes.
It's very memorable, very witty at times and definitely supersedes pretty much all of its contemporary action films.
