Review of The Rock (1996) by Jake H — 01 Feb 2014
This film easily ranks up there with my personal favorite action films, and many would consider it to be Michael Bay's best (though my personal favorite is The Island). The story of rogue Marines stealing chemical weapons and taking over Alcatraz is implausible at best, but that doesn't stop this film from being great fun to watch! Not to mention that General Hummel, played brilliantly by Ed Harris, is, in my opinion, one of the best antagonists ever put to film.
Great performances, directing, and storytelling all around.
