Review of The Roaring Twenties (1939) by Edgar C — 06 Apr 2010
I really enjoyed this film, a nice blend of actual prohibition events of the early 20's and just sheer entertainment. Cagney was terrific as lead but Gladys George was the standout as the ever loyal supporter of Cagney.
It is was such a turbulent time in history the 20's (the speakeasies, jazz age, illegal liquor etc.) and this film captures this era so well. The characters that fill this backdrop make it that little bit more interesting, a great film if you are interested in the era and good old fashioned hard nosed gangster picture, which I love, hard not to...
