Review of The Road to Guantanamo (2006) by Eric H — 10 Nov 2008
A tragic story made less powerful and more questionable due to the made-for-TV style of it. This should have been a straightforward documentary, but Winterbottom decided to film reenactments instead. I thought it made things seem too fictional.
For instance, it does not make sense why these guys wanted to go to Afghanistan in the first place, they did nothing and seemed to have no plan there. Surely there must be some better reason, but it is not asked about in this because this is more about their journey than why they were there in the first place.
Save your time and just watch won of the dozen or so other documentaries that cover this topic.
