Review of The Road to El Dorado (2000) by Cris L — 07 Jun 2008
It wasn't bad but something was missing... I don't want to see it again and I usually like to watch movies(animation in particular) more than once. The recipe was right:incredible animation, bright and colourful, interesting story, funny characters, good cast.
..yet the result is somehow poor. The songs are not catchy, the story has no climax,it's historically inaccurate, the most interesting character is the horse and the villain(Tzekel Khan) is more likeable than the main characters.
The fact that the inhabitants called their city El Dorado(a name given by the Spaniards to this imaginary place) is truly preposterous! And knowing what followed after Cortes arrival left me with an unpleasant feeling.
..which shouldn't happen when you're watching an animated movie...
