Formulaic to a fault. The Ritual is a generic, splatter romp that elevates itself from the pack with genuinly disturbing imagery and scenes of great tension. It's instantly forgettable and it's cast of 'lads' are archetypes in every way possible but if you go down to the woods with 'The Ritual' you're in for a pretty good time.
