Review of The Ritual (2017) by Dolores H — 10 Feb 2018
This is a creepy little thriller with a few decent jump scares wedged into a personal story of overcoming paralyzing fear. The acting is top notch and the characters, for the most part are not annoying replicas of what a character should be.
In particular, Rafe Spall delivers a performance that is taught with shame and pain, blended jaggedly with horror. Sure the ending is a little predictable but that really doesn't detract much from the intensity that led up to it.
