Review of The Rite (2011) by Wayne H — 25 Jun 2011
Anthony Hopkins was truly on his game for this film, unfortunately that can't be said for Colin O'Donoghue. O'Donoghue was not convincing, and felt very bland and awkward in his role. While much of the material is interesting, the subplots, especially involving O'Donoghue are not.
Still, I rather enjoyed how it treated exorcism in a serious manner, giving it more background than most movies ever attempt. With a better supporting cast and a tighter script, this could have really been something.
