The Rite fails to get it right for most of its part. Anthony Hopkins may have been the right choice for Father Lucas' character but Father Lucas character wasn't tailor-made for Hopkins. I'd have preferred a relatively fresh face for that character.
And even if they'd got that right, the script itself was enough for movie's failure.
