Review of The Rite (2011) by General G — 25 Nov 2011
From the start, I knew this was going to be a very mysterious movie. I mean its just from the tone of it and how things was starting and were playing out. Far from being scary, that much is for sure but as I stated, it was very mysterious.
The acting I can start with right now. Everyone did their role pretty good. This Colin O'Donoghue did well. Anthony Hopkins really did good as some crazy old geezer with a lot of a cats that he denies as his. The somewhat scary parts did give the movie some justice but with a conclusion or a climax for that matter. They were doing good from the beginning and started going down hill it seems. There was only one true scary scene. Everything else was just shocking and jaw-dropping. Now when I say it was mysterious, I don't mean that in that much a good way because its one thing to be trying to figure something out and just getting lost altogether. I mean, at the end I was left with a little bit a cliff hanger. The exorcisms were nice though, I will give them that. Plus they did had some horrific scenes too which worked in there favor. I mean, the expressions of the people that did get possessed and Father Lucas face as he was being possessed was creepy looking.
So, it was ok, I guess. Not great, not good, not bad. I did understood what it was about in the end though. Some things weren't that hard to get but its just the thing with Father Lucas, I sort of don't understand. Not the best exorcism movie and not that much a good mystery either. Just ok.
