Review of The Ring Two (2005) by Andrew K — 08 Nov 2012
The trailer looked really elegant and promising. The trailer presented a seemingly interesting premise. The trailer was suspenseful and got my attention...
...I shoulda just quit while I was ahead.
The trailer was probably better than the movie itself.
Okay, okay! Maybe "The Ring Two" isn't really as bad as I make it sound, but I tell 'ya: I'm getting very skeptical about these sequels. I mean why make another movie based on a successful film if you can't outdo the original? There's just no logic there.
I must admit there was a sense of suspense throughout the entire film--it was all over the place. What I didn't get, though, was a sense of satisfaction from the supposed-answers to the mysteries of The Ring.
The whole plot about Samara taking over Aidan didn't really work well for me. I don't know. I guess seeing how good the first one was made me expect the sequel to be better, edgier, eerier.
If you haven't seen it yet, wait for the DVD.
If you still want to go to the theater and watch it, be my guest! But don't blame me if you die seven days later! ;o).
