Review of The Ridiculous 6 (2015) by Johnmilas — 12 Dec 2015
I tind this movie depressing in the context of Punch Drunk Love and Funny People. Watching Adam Sandler in this role is actually painful. I also find it sad that Harvey Keitel is in this movie, and that just when I thought his cameo was mercifully finished, he returned for an extended cringeworthy sequence.
There is not a single moment in this film that even elicited so much as a smirk on my part. I can only imagine a fan of it to be a mindless consumer of the most tasteless of all garbage churned out by greedy corporations to turn a mere profit.
Having recently released Master of None, a show that actively criticized racial stereotypes in films and television during its fourth episode, Netflix now has no credibility in the action of premiering a film that displays the same kind of troubling racism previously criticized by Aziz Ansari.
Not to mention a narrative so loose that using the term episodic to describe it would be generous, which is ironic considering Netflix is now better known for its original episodic shows. The story is bogged down by abrasive cameos that go on forever, the story feels as if it's been written by a six year old, and it's actually not even worth watching for a dumb laugh.
Literally nothing about it is funny. They're trying to play it off as satire. Yeah right. I'm interested to see what kind of crap gets spewed out in the next three projects Sandler is commited to making for Netflix.
