Hugh Grant is hardly off-screen in this mildly diverting story of a screenwriter turned college lecturer. Marisa Tomei does what she can with an underwritten part as his romantic interest. Allison Janney is somewhat wasted as Grant's nemesis.
Bitter-sweet in part, and thoughtful in terms of painting a picture of someone who knows his best work is now behind him. Not too corny.
