Review of The Revenant (2015) by Abdulmalik A — 20 Apr 2016
Relentlessly brutal and not understanding the definition of mercy, The Revenant forces you to view the world at one of its harshest peaks. The story is poignant and displays a message of the power of love and survival, but all in a non-typical way. The filming and atmosphere throughout the film are both incredibly beautiful and engrossing.
I was a little bit disappointed at the way the narrative ended (due to it being stretched out for so long and then abruptly ending), as well as the overall cohesiveness of the plot (so many things happened throughout the movie that I find it hard to remember every little thing), but overall this was a haunting and visceral film that I won't soon forget.
