Review of The Revenant (2015) by Scott F — 05 Jun 2016
The Revenant is an enjoyable film. DiCaprio's performance as Glass is a memorable one. DiCaprio does a marvelous job depicting trying events in the uncharted 19th century wilderness. Unfortunately, there is not an adequate amount of substance for the run time.
The movie feels like a series of checkpoints. DiCaprio leads the audience from one checkpoint to another, and the result is an ending that is precisely what you would expect. The film is realistic, shocking, and brutal .
.. but it does not keep the audience engaged from start to finish.
