Review of The Revenant (2015) by Thatcriticmaha — 19 Apr 2016
Alejandro González Iñárritu takes you on a journey through a man`s struggles in 1823 America. Leonardo DiCaprio in what could be hist best role yet completely amazes you in every scene he is in. The Revenant is easily one of the deepest and most intriguing films of this decade.
It is a film that excels at everything it does, from the breathtaking scenery to the grueling stunts. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy`s performance are so mesmerizing that you forget your watching a film, and instead a Biopic.
The clear determination from both actors to excel at their roles is made very evident in every scene they are in. The tone of the film is dark and gritty, perfectly describing the times with which those men lived in.
The cinematography in this film is on a completely different level. The choice to use natural lighting instead of artificial is a gamble that pays of massively. Overall this is a fantastic film that deserves all of the countless awards that are inevitably going to come its way.
