Emmanuel Lubezki's rich photography is the only thing that provides the viewer with a diversion when compared to the tremendous endurance test that DiCaprio encounters in this predictable yet awe inspiring drama. Determined to land DiCaprio with an Oscar, the film doesn't even have a background score for most of the scenes involving the actor. The film is a test of commitment and endurance for Dicaprio and its violence and imagery are a bliss to watch. Innaritu does not deserve an Oscar as it should have been Danny Boyle winning the award for Steve Jobs.
