Review of The Revenant (2015) by Vivek C — 28 Jul 2016
Blood splashed on white snow make for great visual, or so think the makers of The Revenant, because there is plenty of it right through the movie, at times, unnecessarily. The cinematography is stunning, fight sequences -- especially Glass's fight with the grizzly bear -- as realistic and pulsating as they can be, DiCaprio's coming-of-age performance, and the fabulous direction all make it a great watch.
Factors pulling it down include a rather simplistic story, a tad too lengthy at 150 minutes, and overall being a pointless movie. And, yes, you'll find it hard to believe all that snow and mountains were shot in Argentina.
