Review of The Revenant (2015) by Mike V — 19 Jun 2017
This epic adventure is ultimately a tale of survival of one man. It is a slow paced film and is testing at times. Although there are some beautiful cinematic shots, just how many images of sunlight gleaming through the trees can the audience take? And how many seemingly miraculous escapes and co-incidences? For me the story was just too linear and there wasn't a level of complexity in the narrative that I would have expected.
While it does feature a good performance from DiCaprio, I didn't like Hardy's performance (and his mumbling), and by the end we just all wanted Glass to die. AAN GGWD. 1001 D & MC.
