Review of The Revenant (2015) by Orlando W — 25 Jul 2016
A truly transcendent film. Between Innaritu's unbelievable action set pieces, Lubezki's profound shots of the wilderness and the deeply involved performances from the movies' two leads, this is a triumph of film-making.
Not for the faint of heart, but then again, brutal reality is often infused into our daily lives, and it would be a shame if it was left out of the medium that is supposed to reflect the world we live in.
Also, kudos to them for depicting Native Americans in a justified light. Words cannot describe my feeling while watching some of these scenes, all I can say, is experience them for yourselves. Don't go into this movie expecting anything, don't shy away, don't bog your head with your criticisms, give it the ride it deserves.
Otherwise, you're missing out on something extraordinary!
