Review of The Revenant (2015) by Karen S — 14 Jun 2016

I was shocked so many like this movie. It was dark from start to finish. Dark, meaning no light, not a glimmer of hope, not a split second that might prompt a slight smile. Yet it was somehow beautiful through all it's gloom.

I found it a bit methodical and slow. As a horse lover, the scene showing the palomino mangled on the rocks below the cliff, was just too much for me. I was ready to stop watching at that point. DiCaprio was great, the picture was beautifully made, but I would never watch it twice.

It's not my choice for an award winning western.
