Review of The Revenant (2015) by Josh K — 16 Mar 2018
While the performance is gripping and intense the first time around coming back to view it for a second time had the movie falter as a story when you know he makes it in the end. Leo really sells this based on a true story tale of a real Hugh Glass who battled a bear and survived.
While it is a stretch on the Hugh Glass story which isn't much more than the bear attack this movie delves deep into the native american massacre that was prevalent among the times. The brutality is heavily portrayed.
The movie has lots of shock value and I think it lives off of that heart racing action until the climax of the story, this is one that carries little dialogue and without action it sometimes feels boring but always picks up again when Leo comes into peril.
I recommend watching this movie even if only once it is an amazing first time view.
