Review of The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1995) by Melanie G — 27 Feb 2008
One cannot enjoy this film by trying to take it seriously. It's probably best to not even count it in the Texas Chainsaw canon, as it's not even the same family. Nerd Renee Zellweger must take on Matthew McConaughey and a pasted together 'family' of crazy people (plus a slightly transvestitic Leatherface) hired to copycat the original murders and keep the story alive.
Leatherface is almost an afterthought in this movie. If you want scary, then focus on McConaughey's character, who is as creepy and terrifying as they come.
