Review of The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1995) by Brian C — 17 Sep 2007
Sadly a very disappointing entry in The Texas Chainsaw Masscre film series.
Though there are a few descent moments in this film, very few, the overall production falters badly. Mainly the film feels like a really half-ass attempt to cash in on fans nostalgia. When Mathew McConaughey comes off as being more menacing than Leatherface in a TCM movie something just feels wrong. If the filmmakers were going for campy, dark humor they fell somewhat short there as well.
In conclusion, viewers would be much better off sticking with the original or if you want some dark, campy humor go with TTCM 2.
