Review of The Return of the Living Dead (1985) by Jim A — 02 Nov 2008
One of the all-time American greats. John Russo's spin-off of Night of the Living Dead; Dawn of the Dead was obviously the better film, but this is a close fucking second. Other than the punk-rockers, it is a very timeless story filled with great acting and dialogue.
The balance between horror and humor is perfected here, managing to keep us scared to death while laughing our asses off. The story begins with a very down-to-earth, realistic approach to the idea of zombies, but ends up exploding into a gore-fest more outrageous than its predecessors.
An absolute must-see for horror fans.
