Review of The Return (2006) by Nilufer R — 01 Sep 2009
Suspense thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sam Shepard and Peter O'Brien. written by Adam Sussman. directed by Asif Kapadia.
Joanna Mills (Gellar), an aggressive young woman who works as a successful saleswoman in the trucking industry, has long avoided Texas ever since her childhood. but when a big deal pops up, she forces herself to return to her hometown. nightmares and what seem like flashes of déjà vu lead Mills as she begins to put together the pieces of a tragic mystery.
I was expecting another Grudge-type film, full of gore and cheese, but that's not what this film is. sure, it has elements of the supernatural, but this one is more of a murder mystery-type film.
Predictable, but still a decent enough plot. it just seemed like the cast was kinda walking through this one, which made it difficult to invest in the characters. an okay enough film.
