Review of The Return (2006) by Georgios L — 30 Jul 2010
After all the bad press this film has received I was prepared for something really bad which I would have to watch being a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar. It is not that bad but it is quite slow and boring and there is not much original about it.
A run-of-the-mill ghost story where there isn't even a twist in the end eventhough the script is trying to mislead us initially into thinking this is about a film about child abuse. It soon becomes apparent that it is not the case and we get little pieces of the puzzle with every breakdown that Sarah-Michelle has.
As usual, we get the complete answer in the end which comes as no surprise to anyone. There is some good cinematography hear eventhough the constant gray colours become quite tiresome. It is disapointing to see Sarah reduced to this; she has shown us she can do so much more.
