Review of The Resident (2011) by Ally M — 06 Mar 2011
Whilst it's great to see Hammer back in film production this is never going to be considered one of their best works. The story has been done many times before (think 'Sliver', 'Single White Female' and 'Pacific Heights' and you get the idea) and their are few surprises or genuine chills along the way.
Saying that I was entertained and there are moments to creep you out (e.g. Hilary checking out the video feed to see who has been moving around her apartment). The performances from the two leads are strong and it's great to see Lee back in a Hammer film, even if he has little to do.
Not the big resurrection of Hammer Films then but not terrible and I'll reserve judgement on the Company until I see 'Let Me In' and 'Woman in Black'.
