Review of The Rescuers Down Under (1990) by Clayton W — 02 Mar 2008
The Rescuers Down Under is an improvement on the original, which shouldn't be surprising considering the lengthy period of time between the two releases. It's cool that Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor returned for the sequel, and the story and new characters are all fitting for the series. The animation is also stunning, some of the best in any Disney movie, especially when the huge eagle is onscreen. I wish that Bernard and Bianca had been in it a little more, but the other characters are still a lot of fun to watch.
Mulan is one of the last great Disney movies. It has a cool animation style, a great story, and some really good songs. "I'll Make a Man Out of You" is one of the best Disney songs, thanks to good lyrics and a great vocal performance by Donny Osmond (yeah, it's weird that I just said that). The movie has tremendous heart and really funny characters.
