Review of The Replacement Killers (1998) by Daniel K — 16 Nov 2007
Nearly every frame of this film is steeped in ridiculousness. Antoine Fuqua is a horrible director and this is a horrible film. I find it hard to believe I actually liked this film when I saw it back in the 90's.
It's rife with every action film cliche and they aren't execiuted very well either. Nothing is believable and nothing is original or interesting. Yun-Fat has sold out, but I'm sure he made more money doing this than his better earlier work.
He doesn't quite have the acting chops or gravitas for this role. Perhaps it's because it's in english, but I suspect he is just better suited to roles like Better Tomorrow.
