Review of The Replacement Killers (1998) by Stuart M — 06 Feb 2010
A fairly run of the mill action movie with your sandard anti-hero with a heart, non complicated plot, over the top shootouts and lady eye candy.
What does set this movie apart from the rest is the main lead, this is Fat's first Hollywood movie and as per usual he manages to raise the bar. While there is a cute female lead, the writers didn't feel the need to make her the cliche love interest, nor a screaming usless needs to be rescued all the time sidekick sterotype. Infact she can shoot up the badguys just as well as Fat can.
But it does fall a bit foul of a few action movie standards. The action at times is overthe top and in realistic, with guns that seem to have far to many bullets in them before reloading, charecters ability to dodge bullets by rolling accross a floor, and cannon fodder enemies who are a bit too dumb, including Fats replacement killers of the title.
A good entry for Fat, if a bit predictable but not too run of mill to make it missable.
