Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Andie N — 27 May 2010
Superbly acted and balanced. Ivory adds details to focus on the dreary life of Stevens the butler who's life never went further than the country home. His lack of experience keeps him trapped and when true love is there to be taken, you can get what happens. Hopkin's best performance, by trying not to act.
