Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Carlos A — 28 Aug 2011
The Remains of the Day tells the story of a man so obsessed with his duty as a butler to the point of being blinded of all other promises in life, by serving his employer in the best way. Anthony Hopkins plays Stevens, the butler, so perfectly, that it is impossible to think that such a person can exist.
There are a lot of scenes where Hopkins is forced to play a man without feelings and with the only goal to be the best servant possible. This is a wonderful story. Many people find it boring, but if you understand its true subject you won't find it boring.
