Review of The Reflecting Skin (1990) by Erika S — 03 Sep 2007
A lot going on in this movie. Almost no exposition to help you figure things out. This actually makes it a better movie, in my opinion.
The little boy is trying to make sense of the things going on around him and the troubled adults in his life. In fact, all of the characters are struggling with things they do not understand.
By keeping things "weird" and hard to follow, I think the director forces us to empathize with all of the helplessness, loss, and loss of innocence.
Just a great great film.
