Review of The Ref (1994) by Moe J — 22 Dec 2010
Gosh, this film is hysterical! Denis Leary is so funny in this movie! Sure, he's foul-mouthed and not very nice, but he still made me laugh. The bickering couple he takes hostage were pretty entertaining, too.
There is a scene where they are seeing a marriage counselor and the session is just going completely wrong. Also, the couple has family coming over for Christmas dinner and the couple pretend that Denis Leary is their marriage counselor.
It is such a funny scene. The worst parts of the movie were with the drunk Santa. He wasn't funny, in my opinion. However, there is one scene where the drunk Santa tries to beat up Denis Leary. Denis Leary punches the Santa and when the Santa is knocked out, Leary says in a horrified way, ``I just beat up Santa.
'' Also, there are some extremely dumb cops who tape over important evidence with ``It's A Wonderful Life'' by accident. If you are liking the sound of this movie, you should go out and see it.
If you aren't liking the sound of it, don't see this movie, then.
