Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Debralynn W — 20 Mar 2009
I think this is another one of those great movies that didn't get much recognition. The cinematography in Europe is very nice, the location (filmed in more thn one country) are very thoughfully considered- The costumes especially during the Golden Age of Vienna Austria- Stunning!
I guess what I like most about this movie aside from what I mentioned is the story didn't stray away from the main "character subject - The Red Violin". IMO the story stayed true to the subject and played around it instead of made a story for cinematic purposes which in most occasion gets lost in translation.
The movie is fascinating, I can only say that the creators of this movie surely has some very creative minds to be able to dig deep and make a very interesting, artfully done story about the birth, All the hands, The amazing history of The Red Violin.
