Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Roberto J — 31 Jan 2010
A brilliantly constructed film that jumps through time to tell the story of special violin and the people who've played it throughout its history. The story keeps the audience grounded by continuously returning to the auctioning of the violin in the present.
As you learn more about the instrument's past, you come to care more and more about the outcome of the auction, until it becomes just as exciting as an epic battle. The beautiful score is played by virtuoso Joshua Bell.
