Review of The Red Pill (2016) by Ben G — 07 May 2018
Interestingly, the "Tomatometer" and the "Audience Score" are in stark disagreement over the quality of this picture. As of this posting, just 29% of the critics approve of the film (2 of 7), while 1,115 users have given the doc a 91% approval rating, with an average score of 4.5.
Very interesting picture, with a atypically honest approach to material that the filmmaker found surprisingly discordant with their beliefs going into the project. This is worthy of some praise, regardless of the topic explored.
Some compelling points raised, and the now-common practice of shouting down opposition is shown, rather than verbalized extensively, which I found a pleasant alternative to the predigested conclusions narrated over most films with political subject. What does it say about your arguments when a key strategy is to ensure all voices of opposition are silenced?
Enjoyable documentary for anyone who doesn't feel the findings are personal assaults upon their established dogma.
