Review of The Red Pill (2016) by Mark S — 03 Nov 2016
This movie was absolutely amazing, one of the best documentaries I've seen in my life. Bravo to Cassie Jaye for making such a brave film -- she provides a compelling overview of issues affecting boys and men, and how they are not generally understood by society. If this film gets wide recognition, I think it would be great for both genders and it helps provide understanding between men and women, which is a good thing.
I am a progressive, and I completely disagree with Mr. Scherstuhl's review in the Village Voice. This movie gets to the heart of the systemic issues that create problems for men, such as the Male Only draft, and a prison industrial complex, including a family court system, that discriminates against men (of all races, by the way). I feel that the writer had a preconceived notion before seeing the film, and set to write a review with that mindset.
Bravo again to Cassie Jaye for a thorough, provocative, and important documentary. I would highly recommend this film to anyone, particularly if you have any interest in gender issues or have a male family member or friend dealing with issues whom you would like to understand better.
